  1. I think it means to understand the story you have to kind of walk in the characters shoes. You have to think about what was going on in that time period and how the people lived in order to really understand the story.

  3. It means that you can't read from your eyes you have to read from their eyes. You have to see what their seeing to really see how they feel about what's going on. You have to put yourself in their to truly understand what the character is going trough. Doing all of these things will help you to get a better grasp and feel of what's going on with the characters in the story. Also when you read with your eyes you have your own opinions about the situation at hand and you don't grasp what they character is thinking or how significant a situation is to them.

  5. "Dont read with your eyes." Literally he doesn't mean this, but he does mean that in order to understand, the reader has to place theirself in the position of the character in a story. In order to see what they see, feel how they feel, think what they think, we must try to picture ourselves in their same situation. Doing what ive stated can help to bring you to a better understanding of what the character(s) may be going through and why they may feel a certain way.

  6. It's kind of like, "don't judge a book by its cover". You have to be able to understand other people's point of view and see life through their eyes before you can make any kind of assumption or judgement about them or their situation.

  7. i think it means some thing like reading between the lines. Writers are trying to get us, as readers, to use our other senses. To feel the grass, smell the city air, taste the expensive food at the restaurant. Whatever the author is trying write about, he or she wants you to feel it and not just read it.

  8. I think it's telling you to like read between the lines and not just take everything literally. Mull over the words and everything they say. I'm not sure, that's just my opinion...

  9. I think its telling you to just think deeper. Don't read just whats there in front of you, but feel the meaning within yourself and your heart, and then you can find things that no one else sees.

  10. I think that he means that when you read you should not just read the words in the story. I can read something while not thinking about it then have no clue what i just read. When you read something you shouldn't just use your eyes but your mind to visualize and think about what is happening.

  11. I believe that the title means that when you read, you shouldn't just read the words, you need to think about what the writer is saying there is always a deeper meaning. So when you read, keep your mind open. You just might see something bigger going on.
