  1. P. 178-For about as long as anyone's been writing anything the seasons have stood for the same set of meanings. Maybe it's hard wired into us that spring has to do with childhood and youth, summer with adulthood and romance and fulfillment and passion, autumn with decline and middle age and tiredness but also harvest, winter with old age and resentment and death.

I chose this because it stands out to me. It is very true. When you think of spring you think of new life and childhood. As it becomes summer, you think of that summer love and of romance and passion, as summer turns to autumn you think of things slowly starting to die and then as winter approaches you think of death and everything.

  2. Pg. 176. Happiness and Dissatisfaction have their seasons.
I chose this sentence because I agree with it. Generally, unless you're someone who is partial to the cold, when you think of winter you usually think about gloominess and unhappiness and dissatisfaction. No one is satisfied with winter it's just an unpleasant season. Then when you think of either summer or spring or autumn, all depending on the person, you think of happiness. Those are the three season that have positive and happy things about them. Autumn is cooler then summer and you get pumpkin patches and colorful leaves. Spring has everything blooming and pretty and new and it's finally warming up. Then summer you get a summer break and water slides and the lake and etc.

  3. Pg 183. We read the seasons in them almost without being conscious of many associations we bring to that reading. I think i always am conscious of the meaning. Like he said, shakespeare compared his love to a long summer day, being that his love is warm and loving, as the sun feels loving after a harsh winter. I think that winter is definitely compared to being evil and having a "cold" heart, as compared to cold weather.

  4. Pg. 178. Maybe it's hardwired into us that spring has to do with childhood and youth, summer with adulthood and romance and fulfillment and passion, autumn with decline and middle age and tiredness but also harvest, winter with old age and resentment and death. I liked this sentence because it relates each season with seasons of life. Spring is the beginning of the new year and new things, summer is the more beautiful and enjoyable season which can relate to romance and fulfillment, fall is when things began to calm down, the air cools and people and animals become less active, winter is dark and cold and the end of the year which can relate to death and aging.

  5. 176. Happiness and dissatisfaction have their seasons. I also like kinsi agree with this statement. Like seasons we have our mood changes. I really like this metaphor that Foster uses because it is so true in todays society. I believe that people have began to hold onto things so softly, meaning their quick to change and i believe that is what this sentence makes me think about.

  6. Page 184- Seasons can work magic on u, and writers can work magic with season.

It is saying that seasons can change our moods and attitudes so if the author wants us to feel a certain way he can input a certain season. If the author wants us to feel gloomy and down then they could use winter. If they want running and skipping then summer is the way to go. In the middle of the winter all people can think about is laying on the beach soaking up the sun. And in fall people just think about the up coming cold and snow. The season shows our inner emotions so the author can manipulate the season to change us.

I chose this because when I actually thought about it, it's true. The different seasons usually always mean the same things...Spring is fun, Summer is intensity, Fall is more responsibility and growing up, and Winter is slow and sort of gloomy.

  8. I have to say that I agree with logan. I too liked the sentence, Seasons can work magic on you, and writers can work magic with seasons, Pg. 184. I really like this because I think he is saying that with the changing of seasons our personaities change with it some what. By using seasons any writer can control the type of mood we feel while reading their story.
